Portugal claim UEFA Nations League trophy
Portugal win Nations League |
Portugal claimed the first UEFA Nations League trophy after beating Netherlands 1-0 thanks to a second-half goal from Goncalo Guedes.
Portugal have now won two of their last four international tournaments with their last win being at the EURO 2016.
Portugal who hosted this tournament are the first European side to host and win the final of a major competition since France won the World Cup against Brazil in 1998.
Netherlands have now lost four of their last five major international finals.
England earned a hard-fought 6-5 penalty victory over Switzerland as the English side claimed third in the UEFA Nations League. The match ended 0-0 following a lot of controversies from VAR but England won on penalties as goalkeeper Jordan Pickford came to the rescue.
This is the first time since Euro 1968 that England will finish third in a major international competition.
Switzerland have now won only one of their last 23 games against England.
This is the first time in England's history that they will score six penalties in a single shootout of a competitive international tournament and Pickford is the first England goalkeeper in history to score and catch a penalty.
