Barcelona slip to a Copa del Rey defeat at Levante

| Levante take the first leg lead |
Levante took the first leg advantage over Barcelona in the Copa del Rey match yesterday with a 2-1 victory over the Catalan side.
In the absence of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, Barcelona had blunt tooth in front of goal on the night with the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Ousmane Dembele and Malcom failing to take their chances in front of goal. Levante were leading 2-0 up until late in the second half when Philippe Coutinho reduced the deficit after converting a goal from the penalty spot. Barcelona would well have been out of the competition they won last season if not for a compulsory second leg fixture which will hold at Camp Nou next week and they will have a chance to redeem themselves.
