    Luka Modric has claimed the 2018 Ballon d'or award ahead of the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi- with the first five in that order.
    This is the first time since 10 years that either of Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi will not win the award and perhaps it's the beginning of another era in the world of football.

    Lyon female star Ada Hegerberg has claimed the first ever women's Ballon d'or award. The 23-year old Norwegian forward scored a total of 31 goals for Lyon last season with 15 of those goals in the Champions League as she helped the French side to the league title as well as the Champions League trophy.

    PSG star Kylian Mbappe has won the first ever Kopa trophy which is given to the best U21 play of the year. He claimed the award ahead of Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold and many other youngsters.
