Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 53rd career hat-trick

Cristiano Ronaldo stole the show by scoring a marvelous hat-trick as Portugal defeated Switzerland 3-1 in the UEFA Nations League play-off.


Ronaldo scored first through a superb free-kick in the first half but Ricardo Rodriguez equalised from the spot for the Swiss side in the second-half following a period of controversies. The five time Ballon d'Or winner however had a different idea late in the game, scoring twice within two minutes to give Portugal a place in the competition's final where they will face the winner between Netherlands and England.

Portugal have only lost one of their last 16 matches in all competitions; winning six and drawing nine. They are unbeaten since their 2-1 loss to Uruguay at the 2018 World Cup.
