Barcelona thrashed Liverpool and put Jurgen Klopp's side on the edge of crashing out of the Champions League thanks to a 3-0 victory as Luis Suarez's goal and Lionel Messi's double did justice to the game.
Liverpool did all they could on the night but to no avail and Jurgen Klopp claimed that it was their best performance away from home in the Champions League this season.

Messi had a master class of performance, scoring twice with his second goal which was Barcelona's third being a sublime free-kick that settled the first leg and ramped up the man of the match. The Argentine man is really on fire this season. Liverpool have a big mountain to climb now in the second leg at Anfield, but it's difficult to pinpoint exactly how they can get back into this tie.

This is Liverpool's joint-worst Champions League defeat, they also lost 0-3 to Real Madrid in 2014.
Suarez scored the first goal of this game which was his first Champions League goal of the season after having had 36 shot in the competition this campaign.
Liverpool have lost four times in the Champions League so far this season, one loss more than they've lost in all other competitions combined.
Messi has now scored eight direct free-kick goals this campaign, twice as many as any other player in Europe top-five leagues.
