Liverpool move to top as Tottenham got dragged into fight for top four

Lucky Liverpool maintain the fight for the title after beating Tottenham 2-1 in dying minutes thanks to an own goal from Toby Alderweireld. 


Roberto Firmino gave the Reds the first half lead but Tottenham responded through Lucas Moura with 20 minutes to go in the match. Jurgen Klopp's side however dug deep and got lucky as Mohamed Salah's header parried by Hugo Lloris hit Toby Alderweireld in his shin to enter into the net late on in the game. Liverpool move to the top of the table with 79 points having played one game more than Manchester City who have 77 points and Tottenham in their own case just got dragged into the fight for top four as they stand on 61 points, just one point about fifth and sixth; Arsenal and Chelsea respectively.

Liverpool are now unbeaten in their last 37 home matches, winning 27 and drawing 10.

Chelsea secure controversial win over Cardiff City to move to a better fighting position for the top four. Cardiff scored first through Victor Camarasa only for them to be robbed by the lineman who failed to flag Cesar Azpilicueta's equaliser offside before Ruben Loftus-Cheek secured the winner in dying minutes and the match ended 2-1 in favour of Chelsea. Chelsea are still sixth with 60 points, just one point behind third Tottenham.
