Manchester City defeat Chelsea to claim Carabao Cup

Manchester City have won the Carabao Cup trophy for consecutive seasons after defeating Chelsea 4-3 on penalties at Wembley following a 0-0 draw after extra time.

Jorginho and David Luiz lost penalties for the Blues while Leroy Sane's penalty loss did not matter as Raheem Sterling kept his cool to convert the winner. It's the beginning of a proclaimed Quadruple by Pep Guardiola and it remains to be seen how far they can go.

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa was involved in an argument with the club's boss Maurizio Sarri who wanted to replace him with Willy Caballero but the Spainard refused  despite his number being shown on the substitution plate. It has however been cleared as a misunderstanding with the belief Kepa only wanted to confirm to his boss he could continue the match due to doctor's treatment just before that point in the match.

Only Liverpool with eight have won more League Cup trophies than Manchester City who now have six.
Manchester City have now won the two League Cups to have gone on to penalties. The first was against Liverpool in 2016.
Since 2009 when Tottenham played Manchester United, this was the first League Cup final that would end in a 0-0 after normal time.
Manchester City have failed to score just twice this season and that has been against Chelsea, one was the 2-0 loss at Stamford bridge and the other was today.

    Goalless draw at Old Trafford

Liverpool returned to the top of the Premier League table despite being held to a 0-0 draw by an Injury-hit Manchester United at Old Trafford. United lost Ander Herrera, Juan Mata and substitute Jesse Lingard who came in for Mata all in the first half of the game.

It wasn't a match of much chances and both teams would be glad with a point each. Liverpool are now first with 66 points while United moved down to fifth with 52 points.

Both sides have now played draw in five of their last seven meetings in all competitions with only on win each, as many draws as they drew in their previous 50 games against each other.
Jesse Lingard is the first player to be substituted on and off in the first half of a Premier League game since Kevin Long who played for Burnley against Newcastle in January 2015. United are the first team to use all their three substitutions in the first half of a Premier League match since Burnley did in their match against Newcastle in January 2015.
David de Gea has now kept 100 clean sheets, the second highest for United after Peter Schmeichel who has 112 and the seventh highest in the Premier League.

Arsenal move into top four thanks to 2-0 win over Southampton

Arsenal returned to the top four thanks to a 2-0 home win over Southampton. Alexandre Lacazette and Henrikh Mkhitaryan's first half strikes were enough to move Arsenal to the top four with 53 points, one point above Manchester United who lie fifth and seven points adrift Tottenham who have 60 points.
Southampton are yet to win any of their last 20 away games in the Premier League against Arsenal, they've lost 15 and drawn five.
Arsenal are yet to lose a home Premier League game since losing to Manchester City 0-2 on League opening day in August.
Lacazette has now scored against 18 of his 22 faced Premier League sides. He is the first Arsenal player to score in four consecutive Premier League matches for the club since March 2012 (Robin van Persie).
