Wasteful Liverpool were held by a toothless Bayern Munich to a goalless draw at Anfield in the first leg of their round-of-16 Champions League fixture.

It's all for the good for Jurgen Klopp's side as conceding an away goal would have made things more difficult for his side in the second leg. As it stands however, there is all to fight for at the Allianz Arena in the second leg.

Jurgen Klopp has now played 30 games in all competitions against Bayern Munich in his managerial career, more than any other club but this is the first to end in a 0-0 draw.
Liverpool have kept 11 clean sheets in their last 20 home European matches, unbeaten in all of those games with 14 victories and six draws.
This is the first time Liverpool would play a 0-0 draw in the first leg of a knockout Champions League stage since Semi-final 2004/05 against Chelsea.
Bayern are still unbeaten in this season's Champions League competition, together with Barcelona and Lyon.
Alisson has now kept eight clean sheets in his last 10 home Champions League games.
This is the first time Bayern Munich will fail to attempt a shot on target in a Champions League match since the semi-final first leg away at Barcelona in May 2015.

Barcelona were also held to a goalless draw away at Lyon. It was a frustrating afternoon for the Spanish side who have all to do in the second leg to proceed to the next stage. Lyon gave a massive fight which warrants their participation in the competition and it remains to be seen if they can get something away from the second-leg in Camp Nou.

Barcelona are yet to win any of their last six away Champions League knockout matches, failing to score in five.
Lyon are yet to beat Barcelona in any of their seven Champions League matches.
Lionel Messi registered nine shots in this match, four more than the entire of Lyon.
Luis Suarez has now failed to score a single Champions League away goal for the past 24 hours of playing time.
Gerard Pique is the seventh player to make 100+ Champions League appearances for Barcelona with only Lionel Messi, Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Victor Valdes, Carles Puyol and Sergio Busquets having achieved that feet.
