Chelsea secure first leg advantage over Malmo

Chelsea secured a first-leg Europa League round-of-32 advantage over Malmo after beating the Swedish side 2-1 thanks to goals from Ross Barkley and Olivier Giroud.
It was the Blues' first away win in 2019 in a match that saw them bounce back from their horrible show against Manchester City last weekend. They now have all it takes to make the round-of-16 ahead of the second-leg next week.
This is the first time since 2013 that Chelsea would win the first leg of a European knockout game.
Ross Barkley's goal was Chelsea's first away goal in 2019.
Since Victor Moses in 2013, Frenchman Olivier Giroud is the first Chelsea player to score in four consecutive European matches.
Clueless Arsenal were stunned at BATE as the Gunners failed to secure at least an away goal after getting defeated by 1-0. Alexandre Lacazette was red-carded late in the match as Unai Emery's side failed to find a rhythm yet again. It was one of those horrible shows for the Emirates side and this continues to show the extent of Emery's stubbornness after leaving out a fit Mesut Ozil for the match-day yet again. It however remains to be seen what statement the team will make in the second leg next week.
Arsenal have only won one and lost three of their last four away games in all competitions, after only losing three games in the previous 14 away matches under Emery.
Alexandre Lacazette was red-carded and that was the first for any Arsenal player in European matches since Laurent Koscielny against Bayern Munich in 2017.
