Leroy Sane with a brace for Manchester City

Manchester City topped their Champions League group thanks to a come back 2-1 victory over Hoffenheim. Leroy Sane scored a brace, one in each half to give City the required status as they move on to the knockout stage with 13 points.

In 10 seasons, Pep Guardiola has guided his team to first place in the group stages of the Champions League on nine occasions.
Hoffenheim have scored and conceded in all their 14 European competitive matches.
Hoffenheim scored as many as 10 goals in the group stage and they finished bottom of their group, the first side to finish that way since Olympiakos in 2002/03 who scored 11 goals.
Since 1999, Leroy Sane is the first German to score a brace against German opposition.

Manchester United threw away the chance to lead their group after a lacklustre 1-2 away loss to Valencia. Marcus Rashford's late goal was unable to salvage any point as United finished the group second despite Juventus being well beaten 1-2 at Young Boys. Juventus finished first with 12 points, Manchester United second with 10 points, Valencia with eight points and Young Boys with four points in that order.

This is the first time Valencia would beat Manchester United in a Champions League match, this coming after their 8th meeting.
Carlos Soler has scored two goals and assisted one more in his last two home Champions League games for Valencia.
Marcus Rashford scored his first Champions League goal since December 2017 against CSKA Moscow and this was his first ever headed goal in the competition.
