Liverpool go nine points clear at the top of the Premier League table after thrashing same old lacklustre Arsenal by 5-1 at Anfield.
It brought a remembrance of the latter part of Arsene Wenger Arsenal's era as Liverpool took advantage of many defensive woes in the night. It's unbelievable that Arsenal scored first through Ainsley Maitland-Niles but the lead only lasted for a few minutes as Roberto Firmino capitalized on a defensive instability to score twice before the 20 mins mark. Sadio Mane later scored from a Mohamed Salah assist after which the Egyptian scored himself to make it 4-1 from penalty before half-time after being brought down in the box.
Arsenal were much improved in the second half but it was to no avail as Liverpool scored one more from the penalty spot yet again to make it 5-1 and Roberto Firmino grabbed his hat-trick on the night. Arsenal remain 5th with 38 points while Liverpool are way ahead on the top of the table with 54 points.
Arsenal against Liverpool is now the highest scoring fixture with 155 goals in Premier League history.
Arsenal conceded four goals in the first half for the fourth time ever and Liverpool have been responsible for two.
Arsenal have failed to win in any of their last 20 away league matches against the big six, losing 13 and drawing seven.
Roberto Firmino has now scored eight goals and assisted there in his eight games against Arsenal.

Tottenham's title challenge took a slip as Wolverhampton defeated Mauricio Pochettino's side 3-1. Harry Kane scored first but Wolves had a different idea and Tottenham remain second with 45 points.
Wolves won their first Premier League game against Tottenham for the first time since February 2010.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace as Juventus maintained their unbeaten run after beating Sampdoria 2-1 in a what was a controversial match yesterday.
