Arsenal were lucky against Chelsea; Mayowa Ariyo
A chat interview with a Chelsea fan, Mayowa Ariyo.
SSN; Good Afternoon Mr. Mayowa
Mayowa; Good afternoon
SSN; Last Sunday, Arsenal defeated Chelsea in the FA Community Shield, what do you have to say about that?
Mayowa; They both played well, but in every game like that there will always be a winner, I guess arsenal were just lucky to be the winner.
SSN; Lucky? So Chelsea were the Unlucky team?
Mayowa; To me any winner is a lucky winner.
SSN; So you mean every team that wins a particular football match is lucky??
Mayowa; Yes let me justify my point, let's take for example if Barcelona is playing against Fulham, we expect Barcelona to win but if otherwise what would I call it? LUCK.
SSN; So Arsenal is like Fulham while Chelsea like Barcelona?
Mayowa; Not being sentimental, judging from previous seasons and encounters I would say so.
SSN; Well, Arsenal fans will not like to see this, but judging by the fact they've defeated Chelsea in two consecutive competitive matches, you still think it was luck?
Mayowa; Well, on this course I still believe they had luck on their side.
SSN; Because Chelsea had Red card on the two occasions?
Mayowa; That is not a factor.
SSN; So, what's the factor?
Mayowa; let me say lack of focus or concentration.
SSN; And that will be whose fault?
Mayowa; The players.
SSN; And why will Arsenal be lucky because of that?
Mayowa; Fact remains that if Chelsea players were focused, they would tear arsenal into pieces, on both occasions Chelsea were so relaxed and it haunted them.
SSN; Don't you think Chelsea has some internal problems?
Mayowa; Well, I would say yes, the same thing happened during Mourinho's second season, players were fatigued, I guess the same thing is looming around them again but let's just hope bad histories don't repeat itself.
SSN; How can Chelsea actually stop it from happening?
Mayowa; Medical staff upgrades, recruitment of new and capable staffs.
SSN; As long as this is done, Chelsea are good to go?
Mayowa; 70% ready
SSN; But can 70% brings in trophies?
Mayowa; There is room for improvement.
SSN; In what area of the team particularly apart from the Medical staffs?
Mayowa; I think the back line too, enough of the old people, Gary Cahill is old and he's not as versatile as before, he needs a back up. Marcos Alonso is kind of slow but he's good, we need a fast left back cos of teams that play counter attack.
SSN; Back line, but Rudiger has been signed as a backup, Zouma still remains, and Azpilicueta is not a bad left back, don't you think this is enough?
Mayowa; I don't like Rudiger though, Zouma is out of form and Azpilicueta is a right back.
SSN; Presently, who are the players you think Chelsea can sign to solve the defense problem?
Mayowa; a better left back.
SSN; Who do you have in mind?
Mayowa; Alex Sandro or Ryan Bertrand.
SSN; Considering the midfield options now, if Kante gets injured, who will replace him and considering the fact that new signing Bakayoko will not be fit for the start of the season, who will play alongside Fabregas?
Mayowa; That's a huge problem, David Luiz will have to switch to DMF, I love seeing him play in that position.
SSN; Don't you think, it's a risk not totally prepared for all shortcomings before the start of the season?
Mayowa: Transfer is crazy and we hope to buy new players too.
SSN; Do you see Chelsea winning any trophy this season?
Mayowa; To be sincere, I'm afraid not, but to be optimistic, YES.
SSN; Which one do you think Chelsea can be up for?
Mayowa; Capital One Cup and FA Cup. The Premier League will be tough this season, but I see Chelsea going far in the UCL.
SSN; UCL till what stage?
SSN; A Quarter-final or a Semi-final.
SSN: Then your hopes are quite high for Chelsea this season?
Mayowa; Yea.
SSN; Thank you Mr. Mayowa, it was nice having you with us.
